ok the sad truth is we have been searching for this dat close to 6 years since rabbit in the moons david christophere and san diego native sotero finished the project. both mixes were done around winter 95 / 96. despite excitement around the label at the time, eventually the tracks fell to the wayside under the age-old excuse of >figuring out what to do with them<. meanwhile, knowing a good thing when he heard it, three made a dat copy and cut some actetates to play out. they made their way around a good portion of the earth via himself, some friends and one west coast dj who boldly vowed to just put it out on his own --- off the slate --- if we didnt get our act together. fortunately he didnt, but neither did we because both david and three misplaced the dat copies and sotero never had one!
j alexanders emotive detroit techno influenced journey continues with this timeless track. his arrangement, musicality and attention to detail is incredibly rare in modern techno and almost elevates >directions< to a soundtrack of the genre. if that wasnt enough another musical hero of ours, vince watson provides even more detroit flavors with a sublime remix. with these two british producers on fire at the moment >directions< is a single that demands attention.

forbidden friends is a new band from hutch harris, lead singer and mastermind of the thermals, portlands last great post-pop-punk-power trio. initially conceived as a way for lovers to send hidden messages in plain view (isnt there an app for that?), forbidden friends is now a legitimate, public work of art. the band is at once old fashioned (acoustic instruments, mono mixes), forward thinking (reference-less, incredibly danceable), and timeless (classic lyrical themes of love and desire.)

worst friends is ryan cavanagh and john paul jones (no, not that one) from brooklyn. they are also known amongst the beards as tom croose and slow hands. we actually suspect they are pretty good friends making this sweet sweet music together and all oh, and they just had a cool record out on oz-label future classic. the music sounds very unlike any short persons playing sports of any kind though slow and low is definitely the tempo. there is the beautiful balearic original, eric duncan gives us a psychedelic ride on the disco carousel and prins thomas channels the song through recently aqquired skills as a choirboy and 4 finger keyboards chords . oh my .
jam city records is proud to present its fourth release - the dj yoda and friends ep. in between his legendary av sets that keeps dj yoda travelling the 4 corners of the globe, he managed to lock himself in the studio with some of his favourite producers and rappers ... and this result is this eagerly anticipated ep release.
db049 is by two of the best new school groove specialists in the game, sascha braemer and philip bader. this is saschas third appearance on dirtybird and phillips first but the two have been friends for many years. both guys have their own amazing labels now (sascha runs supdub and philip runs dantze) so we are very happy to be able to still get a cool record from them on dirtybird. we will leave the title of this >friends and honey ep< up to your imagination but both trax are money in the bank. i welcome our friends from berlin to the san francisco family an we hope to see these two over here in the usa soon on tour.
initial support comes in from pig & dan, paco osuna, tim xavier, richie hawtin, m.a.n.d.y, nic fanciulli, mauro picotto, slam, john digweed, chris fortier and omid/16b! the title to this ep >reminisce< gives us some idea as to feeling of these three tracks, as j alexander pays tribute to some of the late 80s and early 90s sounds that influenced him in his early days. however that said, his talents at blending the old and new together make this much more than a retro sounding ep!
